Committee Members

Let us introduce ourselves!

This page gives you a bit of background on the members of the Cygnet Players committee, who run the society. We get together once a month to talk about what’s going on with Cygnets, and to make sure your society is being run in the best way possible. If you’ve got any comments or questions for the committee, then please This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

Adam Walker-Galbraith (Chairman)

Adam has been a member of Cygnet Players since 2012 where he played the lead in Footloose, after which he quickly joined the committee knowing this was a society he loved being a part of. After a year break to get married he rejoined the committee and now has risen to the terrifying position of Chairman. He has appeared in various Cygnet productions (Footloose, Sweet Charity, The Drowsy Chaperone, Hairspray, The Full Monty and Top Hat) and has directed their productions of Rumours and 9 to 5 The Musical. He is very much looking forward to the exciting years to come!

Jamie Miller-Hughes (Deputy Chair / Secretary)

Jamie moved to south west London in May 2013, and very quickly became involved with Cygnets a few months later. Since then, she has appeared in Beauty and the BeastAvenue Q and Parade, and is now a fully-fledged member of the committee. Jamie is thoroughly enjoying being part of the Cygnets family, and would recommend it to anyone who loves amdram as much as she does.  By complete contrast, during the day Jamie is a healthcare regulatory lawyer.

Gemma Miles (Treasurer)

Gemma has been a member of Cygnet Players since 2013 when she performed in Sweet Charity. It didn’t take long for Gemma to get the Cygnets bug and has since been in Beauty & the Beast, The Full Monty, A Midsummer Night's Dream, 9to5 The Musical and Top Hat. Not only does Cygnets keep her busy with shows and many rehearsals but it fills up her social life too. It's hard to remember 'Life before Cygnets'. Gemma is thrilled to be a part of the committee that keeps this wonderful society a buzzing, high quality Amdram group. Gemma joins the committee to take on advertising, fundraising and looking after the Cygnet Swans.

Alison Walters (Communications Manager)

As a founder member of Cygnet Players, Alison has been performing with them since 1997, & has appeared in nearly 30 productions with the society. Favourite Cygnet roles include Widow Corney (Oliver!) & Madame Edith (‘Allo ‘Allo). She has always enjoyed being involved behind the scenes too, & in fact produced the first ever series of Cygnet newsletters (anyone remember the Cygnet Sentinel?!). Alison is immensely proud of Cygnets & its adventurous ethos. She was delighted when the company began to perform plays & is very happy it's continued to do so, allowing all members a chance to shine, & to really show off what a talented bunch of people we all are. When not occupied with things Cygnets (& sometimes when she is!), you'll find Alison following her other passion – rugby (@LiRFC #comeonyouirish).

Kim Schenkelaars (Marketing Manager)

Kim joined Cygnets in 2015 and has performed in Hairspray, Legally Blonde and 9 to 5. She has also dabbled in choreography, choreographing Dirty Rotten Scoundrels in 2017. By day Kim is a Marketing Analytics Manager at Hearst Magazines UK and night a part-time tap teacher! Kim is thrilled to be joining the committee and is looking forward to getting more involved.

Rosie Miles (Assistant Marketing Manager)

Deborah Lowe (Social Media Manager)

Deb's first production with Cygnets was The Drowsy Chaperone in 2013. Since then, she's been involved with many subsequent shows, including Beauty and the BeastAvenue Q, and The Witches of Eastwick. She joined the committee in 2014 to work with Andrew on all things social - after all, a society's only as good as the opportunities it gives its members to have fun!

Lizzie Kempson (Socials and Fundraising Manager)

Lizzie joined Cygnet Players to play Pam in The Full Monty. She has recently returned to performing after a 10 year break and is loving being back on stage again and getting to be involved with such a friendly company such as Cygnet Players. She was thrilled to find such a professional company that are so welcoming to newcomers, and when the opportunity came up to join the committee she couldn't wait to be involved. By day, Lizzie is personal travel manager so when she is not on stage she will be found in some far off country sipping a cocktail on the beach.

Phoebe Fleetham (Production Manager)

Phoebe’s first production with Cygnets was The Witches of Eastwick, where she uttered a phase that will haunt her for ever, "Please let me know if I can be of any help with the costumes"... And here she is, some time later, still helping with the costumes, dying shorts red (Witches), sewing snaps in to men’s thongs (Full Monty), and teasing bee hives (Hairspray). While usually wielding a tape measure, she was also seen treading the boards as Cassie in our 2015 play, RumoursPhoebe also directed our first Shakespeare play, A Midsummers Night Dream in 2016.

Russell Hughes (Website Manager)

Russell joined Cygnets in 2014 for Beauty and the Beast, and since appeared as a Bad Idea Bear in Avenue Q, Luther Rosser in Parade, Glenn Cooper in Rumours, Demetrius in A Midsummer Night's Dream, Freddy Benson in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels  and also in our productions of Hairspray and and 9 to 5. By day Russell works in Landlord & Tenant Law.
