Young Frankenstein

synopsis

Wednesday 15 – Saturday 18 February 2023, Arthur Cotterell Theatre

Young Frankenstein is the hilarious musical farce from the twisted comic mind of Mel Brooks, based on his film of the same name. Following runs on Broadway and West End, Cygnet Players were extremely excited to be one of the first companies to bring this show to the amateur stage.

The musical follows the brilliant Frederick Frankenstein, grandson of the infamous Victor von Frankenstein, as he travels to Transylvania to settle his grandfather’s estate. Leaving behind his fiancée Elizabeth, he meets a string of eclectic characters along the way, including willing sidekick Igor, beautiful blonde Inga and his grandfather’s eccentric former assistant/lover Frau Blucher. Although initially resistant to continue his grandfather’s ungodly experiments, Frederick soon comes to embrace his inner mad scientist and embarks on a scheme to bring the dead back to life.
