BECOME A MEMBER

We’re a lovely bunch and always on the lookout for new members to welcome into the Cygnet Players family!

THE SOCIETY

Cygnet Players was established in 1997 as an amateur musical theatre group and has since developed into a full amateur dramatic society (NODA affiliated) based in South West London putting on at least two musicals and one play each year.

The society is a mix of people from every walk of life, aged from 16 to 60+, who share a common interest in theatre. We are proud of our high quality shows but we don’t forget that this is a hobby and that we should be having fun first and foremost. We’re a sociable bunch with rehearsals often spilling over into a session at the local pub and a busy social calendar!

MEMBERSHIP

To perform in any Cygnets show, you must become a member. The annual membership fee is £35 (or £30 if you pay by Standing Order / Direct Debit). Membership benefits include discounts for attending social events, as well as entitling you to vote on society matters at the AGM and other official meetings. You’ll also get access to our members’ groups and mailing lists so you’ll be the first to hear news and announcements!

There’s no business like show business and it’s expensive to put on a show! So in addition to the annual membership fee, we ask all cast members to make a financial contribution to their show in the form of a show fee. However, we don’t want financial circumstances to be a barrier to participation, so you are always able to speak to the Committee in confidence about your specific situation. All details of show fees will be available at the welcome meeting for each show, prior to auditions.

THE COMMITTEE

The society is run by a small committee of volunteers who meet once a month to discuss all things Cygnets, and to make sure your society is being run in the best way possible. If you’ve got any comments or questions for the committee, then please get in touch.

COMMITMENT TO DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION

Cygnet Players strives to create an accessible and welcoming environment for members and audiences. We are committed to diversity and inclusion within our casting and storytelling to ensure there are opportunities for all people, from every walk of life, to take part.

Rehearsal AND performance locations

Our rehearsal home is at St Barnabas Church in Southfields where we rehearse twice weekly (Tuesday and Thursday evenings), as well as some Sundays as we get closer to a show week. We also perform our annual play in the lovely main church.

We are very lucky to perform our musicals in wonderful South West London locations including London Oratory Arts Centre in Fulham and Putney Arts Theatre.

Support us

There are a number of ways you can become a friend of Cygnet Players – you can buy a ticket for our latest show or make a donation, but what about becoming a Swan? We have two options for individuals and one for corporate businesses.

ADVERTISE

We have numerous advertising packages available through our programmes, website and social media. Our advertising packages can be simple or multi-channel, depending on what is required.

Cygnet Players put on at least three shows each year and for each show we produce a high quality A5 programme so there’s plenty of opportunity to get your business seen by hundreds of our audience!

Prices start at £40 for a ¼ page colour advert. We also offer discounted rates to anyone looking to advertise in multiple programmes within one year. For more information about any of our advertising packages, please get in touch.

Hire

We know how tricky sourcing costumes and props for productions can be. We have an extensive costume wardrobe and props store, accumulated over the last twenty years, and all items are available for hire. So whether it’s a single prop or item of clothing, or a full set of The Full Monty final scene outfits (!), why not get in touch to see how we can help with your show?
